STWC Safety and Security Course

Do you want to work on board ?

You will need the certificates of specialty, which are required to exercise professional functions in the ships.

Yacht Point offers you the opportunity to complete the training required to obtain the following specialty certificates. These certificates are necessary to perform professional duties aboard Spanish civil boats:

STCW- Basic Safety Training (BST)

The STCW 95 Code requires that you take this 5-day course of instruction. BST is actually 4 courses – Basic Firefighting, Personal Survival, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility, and Elementary First Aid. This course has to be renewed every 5 years, or under certain conditions, you have to show that you have at least 1 year of service on board vessels of 200 GRT or more within the last 5 years.

Intended for STCW Basic safety training (BST) is a maritime safety training, mandatory for all crewmembers on a commercial ship. This is also a mandatory module for commercial yachting. Every crew member and captain sailing on a commercial ship.

Duration of course:  70 hours  (45 theory + 25 practical).

Maritime Security Awareness Training Course

This new compulsory training course for people who work aboard vessels that have to comply with ISPS (The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code) code of practice has been added during the 2010 Manilla amendment phase of the STCW 95.

Who is this course for?

The course in Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness (MSA) is designed to provide those on board ship who do not have a designated security duty with the essential MSA training which meets the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency Requirements as set out in the STCW Code A-VI/6-1.

Security awareness training must be undertaken by all seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity onboard any ship which is required to comply with the ISPS Code.

  • Recognise and report security threats
  • Company and Ship security requirements
  • Security threat levels
  • Security measures and procedures

Duration of course: 8 hours ( 6 theory +  2 practical).

Crowd Management on Passenger Ships

There will be needed the possession of the Crowd Management on Passenger Ships from the Captains, officers and Sailors, of Bridge and of Machines, and other personnel with functions of assistance to the passage in emergency situations in the passage ships, so much conventional as of rolled change (ro-ro), with tonnage equal or superior to 500 GT or that 300 or more passengers are authorized to transport.

Duration course:  32 hours (24 theory y 8 practical)
