Yachtmaster Sail

The Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore course is designed for experienced sailors. There are 2 levels of competence: the Yachtmaster Coastal and the Yachtmaster Offshore.

The Yachtmaster is the most prestigious nautical qualification in the world.

• With the Yachtmaster Coastal qualification you will be able to work as a skipper on a sailing yacht up to 24 meters in length and 20 miles from the coast. In order to access the course you must have a minimum level of theory of Yachtmaster and have sailed a minimum of 30 days as skipper, 800 miles (half in tidal waters) and 12 night hours.
  
  
• With the title of Yachtmaster Offshore you will be able to work as a skipper on a sailing yacht up to 200gt and 150 miles from the coast. To be able to access this preparation, it is necessary to have a minimum theory level of Yachtmaster and to have sailed a minimum of 50 days as skipper, 2,500 miles (half in tidal waters).

The Yachtmaster exam tests the skipper’s ability on 40-50 foot boats. Throughout the practice, we will give you the basics to pass the exam.  The preparation is the same for both certificates, the difference is that, in the case of the Yachtmaster Offshore the examiner will demand a higher level. This practical preparation lasts 7 days (5 days of practice on board plus 2 days of exam).

Content of the EXAM: Evaluation of your skills as skipper, maneuvering, seamanship, navigation (including THEORY), safety knowledge, knowledge of RIPA (lights, lighthouses, signals), and weather.

Minimum duration: 5 days + 2 days exam.

Minimum age: 18 years old.

Both the Yachtmaster Coastal ™ and the Yachtmaster Offshore ™ have professional qualifications.
